South Oakleigh College
Architecture architecture has delivered a state-of-the-art gymnasium for South Oakleigh College, seamlessly integrating with existing school buildings while strengthening connections between indoor sports and outdoor recreation. The gymnasium provides a competition-grade facility, catering to basketball, netball, and multi-purpose sporting events, ensuring its versatility for both school and community use.
Positioned alongside the Agora, the gymnasium reinforces the school’s civic presence, addressing street frontages with a bold, contemporary façade that glows in the evening when in use. Large openings enhance visual and physical connections to the surrounding landscape, creating a welcoming environment.
Internally, the design prioritises flexibility and functionality, featuring high-performance flooring, and an adaptable space for sports, assemblies and events. Thoughtfully designed windows allow natural light to flood the space, fostering an active atmosphere. This facility serves as a vital hub for student engagement, school spirit, and broader community interaction.
